¿ Por qué no es posible usar el Hidrógeno como combustible?

·········································Cuando las reservas de combustibles fósiles se acaben, ocasionará algunos problemas: LOS RECURSOS NO RENOVABLES CREAN TENSIONES POLÍTICAS, Y ES OBVIO QUE SU CRECIENTE CONSUMO POR PARTE DE LAS INDUSTRIAS AFECTA NUESTRA ATMÓSFERA E INCLUSO PUEDE CAMBIAR EL CLIMA.
----- muchos científicos ya han señalado el Hidrógeno, un gas limpio y de fácil obtención, como una respuesta prometedora a largo plazo.Cuando el Hidrógeno arde, se combina con oxígeno en el aire para producir agua. Su único problema de comtaminación es leve; el hidrógeno que arde dentro de una máquina puede generar óxido nitroso. Este fenómeno causado por el Nitrógeno del aire que se combina con oxígeno no quemado en los cilindros, ocurre en todo motor de combustión interna, sin importar qué combustible use.
Si se pudiera usar Hidrógeno en un motor de combustión inerna, muchas formas de transporte saldrían beneficiadas. Los principales fabricantes ya han hecho grandes avances en resolver la tecnologia básica, Mazda ,Daimler-Benz y BMW, cuentan con prototipos. Para almacenar suficiente combustible en un tanque pequeño, como el de un automóvil, ha de licuarse el gas. El Hidrógeno Líquido tiene una temperatura de ---" 253 º C, y sin un aislamiento adecuado , el Hidrógeno líquido se evapora rápidamente.
--------- El Hidrógeno líquido vuelve quebradizo el metal y a diferencia del petróleo, no tiene propiedades lubricantes; además, el combustible a bajas temperaturas presenta mayores obstáculos para el desarrollo de una bomba de combustible y de un sistema de inyección eficientes. Sin embargo, y a pesar de lo mencionado los científicos especialistas en automóviles confían en que tendrán éxito.
